Police in mbale city are holding a 25 Year old man who allegedly masquerade as Uganda peoples defence forces officer and obtained money from some people seeking to be recruited in the ongoing UPDF Infantry forces in Bugisu,Teso and Bukedi region respectively at Maluku play ground in mbale district.
John Emiru ,a Resident of Serere district is alleged to have swindled over 10 million shillings from different applicants on assurance that they would be recruited in the UPDF .
Rogers Taitika The Elgon Region Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest and suspect is detained Industrial city police station for further investigations.
Taitika added that the suspect was found with forged UPDF documents and applications forms which he allegedly used to obtain money from the suspects .
However Col. Saad Katemba who is the team leader of this recruitment exercise in eastern region said that the process has ended smoothly unlike a few isolated case's of extortion were reported, investigated and apprehended .
Katemba added that turn up was overwhelming due to the improved changes in the Army hence attacking more young people, leading to increase interests in joining UPDF .
