The Church of Uganda yesterday, Sunday, pledged 100 bags of cement towards the construction of Kirika Parish Church and the St. John Seed School dormitory located in Kirika Sub-county, Kibuku District.
St. John Seed School was started as a Kirika Parish Church-founded community school but was later taken over by the government.
This was revealed by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Kazimba Mugalu, at Kirika Parish Church in Kibuku District while bidding farewell to his congregation.
Mugalu is expected to retire soon next year and is currently visiting different dioceses to bid farewell to Christians (his followers). This week he is in Bukedi Diocese.
While speaking to Christians, Mugalu said 64 bags will be given to the boys' dormitory under construction and the balance will serve to the church.
In his message, he cautioned parents against neglecting the boy child in terms of care and education while only focusing on girls, yet boys are the foundation of this country.
He said people have prioritized the slogan "educate the girl child" without realizing that all are children, adding that they should also advocate for boys.
Some of the Christians expressed happiness over the Archbishop's visit, saying they have also received blessings as community members.
They urged the government to increase the number of teachers at their St. John Seed School, especially science teachers, who are few compared to the number of students.
