Honorable Karim Masaba the Member of Parliament for Industrial City Division Mbale City, has called upon parents to take education of their children seriously if they want a better future for their families.
Hon Masaba made the call on Sunday while speaking at a community gathering in Industrial City Division.
He said it is worrying that many parents are still reluctant to educate their children despite government efforts to provide free Universal Primary and Secondary Education.
"My appeal to parents is simple, take your children to school. Education is the foundation of development. A child who is educated will help you tomorrow and will help the nation," Hon. Masaba stated.
The legislator said cases of children dropping out of school to work in factories, garages and markets within Mbale Industrial area are on the rise, which he described as dangerous for the future generation.
He urged parents to work closely with local leaders and schools to ensure all school-going children remain in school, especially the girl child.
"Let us not sacrifice our children for small money today. That child hawking in the market could be a doctor, teacher or even President tomorrow if educated," He added.
Hon . Masaba pledged to lobby for more scholarships and provide scholastic materials to vulnerable Children.
Muhammad Makawa a resident of Mutoto welcomed Hon.Masaba's message and asked government to also reduce school requirements that make education expensive for poor families.
