Hon.Mudimi Mp Elgon County Pledges Power Extension, Improved Infrastructure in new term


Honorable Wamakuyu Ignatius Mudimi member of Parliament Elgon County has pledged to lobby for the extension of electricity to the areas of Buluganya , Simu koona, and Sooti and other areas without Electricity as serve his Fourth term in Parliament.

‎Hon Mudimi during monitoring of government projects over the weekend,several Residents expressed concern over the lack of electricity, saying it has significantly affected their daily lives and economic activities.

They cited challenges such as walking long distances to charge mobile phones and access basic services including hair shaving, and other home consumption.

‎In response, Hon.Mudimi  assured residents that access to electricity remains a priority, noting that power is a key driver of economic growth and improved livelihoods. He promised to lobby government agencies to ensure the affected areas are connected to the national power grid since he was re-elected.

‎Hon mudimi also addressed  infrastructure concerns, particularly the condition of the poor roads are worrying states. 

‎He explained that government supports the local governments across country with 1 Billion every financial year but Bulambuli district needs more Funds due to its terrain of hard-to reach areas, adding that he would lobby for additional government funding to ensure its proper upkeep.

‎"local government often struggles to fully utilize its road rehabilitation funds because there are too few heavy machines (like graders) to cover all the sub-counties." He narrates .

‎Hon Mudimi also stressed Bulambuli district is Situated on the slopes of Mt. Elgon, where Elgon County experiences a dual disaster risk due to heavy rains frequently trigger devastating mudslides in the mountainous upper belts e.g Buluganya Sub-county and severe flash floods in the lower-lying .

‎He commits to make follow ups with responsible ministers like office of the prime minister, Minister of disaster and preparedness among others to relocate the locals to safe areas .
