Sections of workers of China-Owned Factories at Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park are calling for Government intervention over increased harassment, mistreatment and torture both psychological and physical by their bosses the Chinese owners.
During previous presidential Tour in the region last month On 02 September 2025, President Yoweri Museveni commissioned four new factories at Sino Industrial Park Mbale retaliating that Industrialisation is a key solution to Uganda’s youths’ unemployment challenges but little did he know that his youthful voters work under very hash conditions and poorly paid peanuts by the praised Chinese masters in Mbale.
When the president visited the area during the commissioning several local workers told This Publications that they are working under torture, harassment including aspects of sexual harassments on female workers, mistreatments and poorly paid however much they work under such conditions.
“We are working under very bad conditions coupled harassments where ladies are sexually harassed by the Chinese masters while men and tortured both psychological and physical at Sino Industrial Park” Sections of workers intimated to our reporter while in Mbale
The Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park, was commissioned in 2018 with a total investment of $600m (Shs2.4 trillion), spans 619 acres of land which initially belonged to Bugisu cooperative Union (BCU) and sold to the Government.
“We dressed in the NRM yellow colours when we saw our beloved president Yoweri Museveni and thought that we could be given chance to air out our grievances on how the Chinese masters harass us during the period we execute our duties but we were denied audience and now we decided to express it out through the media” said the aggrieved workers at Sino Industrial Park Mbale.
Efforts to talk to the Chinese masters at Sino Industrial Park by press time failed however the state minister for investment Everlyne Anite said that their concerns will be addressed soon when the Government intervenes.
