Dr. John Faith Magolo Nominated for Bungokho North MP Seat, Pledges Improved Service Delivery

Mbale Dr. John Faith Magolo, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Bungokho North, has vowed to continue lobbying for better services and improving infrastructure if re-elected for a second term.

Speaking to the media shortly after his nomination, Dr. Magolo said the event meant a lot not only to him personally but also to the people of Bungokho North. He clarified that although he is running as an independent candidate, he still identifies as a member of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

“I am a member of the NRM party, but I am standing as an independent in protest of what happened in Bungokho North on July 17, 2025. The primary elections were disorganized — filled with malice and goons. There was actually no voting. The people of Bungokho North were disenfranchised and denied the opportunity to elect a candidate of their choice. That is why they have come out to say their choice is Dr. John Faith Magolo,” he emphasized.

Dr. Magolo noted that the constituency continues to face challenges in infrastructure development due to its mountainous terrain, which makes maintaining road networks difficult.

“We have worked tirelessly to improve the road network, but because of the terrain, we put in murram today and by tomorrow it’s washed away,” he said.

However, he delivered some good news to the people of Bungokho North, revealing that the Nkonkojeru Road, which stretches from the High Court to Wanale and was pledged by the President of Uganda, has now been actualized and included in the 2025–2026 national budget for tarmacking.

Dr. Magolo also disclosed that residents of Bungokho North have long struggled to access effective services from Mbale District. To address this, the President and Cabinet have approved the creation of Wanale District, which will bring government services closer to the people.

“Once the district is formally established, it will help our people access services from nearby offices instead of traveling long distances,” he said.

Dr. Magolo reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, community empowerment, and infrastructural development. He urged the people of Bungokho North to entrust him with another term so he can continue advocating for tangible improvements and effective service del

ivery in the region.
