Aspiring Member of Parliament for Namisindwa County, Peter Wamana was duly Nominated, ahead of the 2026 general elections, pledging to deliver sweeping reforms across six critical sectors if elected.
Speaking with our reporter in an exclusive interview after Nomination, Hon Wamana who is contesting as independent candidates with (symbol of Mega phone), said his campaign will focus on tangible service delivery to address long-standing challenges facing the people of Namisindwa County
Wamana outlined key programs includes;agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment and livelihood enhancement as his six main pillars for transformation.
He said the constituency has suffered neglect for too long and pledged to be a servant leader committed to change.
He emphasized the importance of agriculture as the backbone of the local economy, Namisindwa County serve as food basket for Mbale and Kampala.
Wamana said poverty has persisted due to poor investment in farming, and he promised to champion improved agricultural practices, access to markets, and livelihood support programs.
Wamana added that on education,he decried the high dropout rates in the district, attributing them in part to hunger among schoolchildren.
He pledged to lobby for school feeding programs and improved learning environments to boost retention and performance.
Wamana also vowed to prioritize healthcare, citing the widespread lack of quality medical services in Namisindwa.
He promised to lobby for the renovation and equipping of health facilities, as well as the deployment of qualified personnel to underserved areas.
Hon. Wamana on infrastructure, he challenged out on the deteriorating roads and bridges in the entire county , describing its current states as unacceptable.
He assured voters that, if elected, he would push for road upgrades and better maintenance of transport networks across the district.
Hon.Wamana also committed to tackling youth unemployment, pledging to introduce skills development programs and support entrepreneurship for young people.
He noted that empowering youth economically is central to reducing crime and building self-reliant communities.
