Renowned philanthropist Angelina Wapukhabulo has launched the Third Edition of 'Laugh With Her' Charity Concert with an aim of raising 1 Billion Uganda Shillings to support children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus at CURE Children's Hospital.
The concert was launched on Tuesday 8th September,2026 at a press conference held in Mt Elgon Hotel in Mbale City.
Mrs. Wapukhabulo said there are many children suffering at CURE Hospital who need huge support and the charity concert is one way to save their lives.
"There are many children suffering in CURE and they need huge support. We have organized this charity concert to raise 1 billion shillings to help children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus get treatment," Wapukhabulo said.
She revealed that the charity concert will be headlined by Ugandan music legend Maddox Ssematimba, Uganda's best comedian Pablo and other local artists from Bugisu sub-region.
Wapukhabulo called upon well-wishers, corporate companies, and the general public to turn up in large numbers and support the cause.
Meanwhile, Mbale City Mayor Joyce Matuka Kidulu applauded Mrs. Wapukhabulo for organizing the charity concert aimed at helping vulnerable children at CURE Hospital.
"We applaud Mrs. Wapukhabulo for organizing this charity concert with aim of helping vulnerable children at CURE Hospital. This is a noble cause that everyone should support," Kidulu said.
Kidulu revealed that CURE Children's Hospital serves not only Uganda but East Africa and the whole of Africa in handling Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus cases.
"CURE Hospital is a special hospital that serves Uganda, East Africa and the whole of Africa with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. We need to support it to save our children," she added.
The 3rd Edition of Laugh With Her Concert is expected to take place next month on 8th October ,2026 at Mt Elgon Hotel in Mbale City.
The Spiritual Director at CURE Children's Hospital, Fred Wangwa, has said that children born with Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida are on the rise and are mostly produced by vulnerable mothers in communities due to failure to give birth in hospitals.
He said the hospital is receiving many cases of children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus from rural communities where mothers do not attend antenatal care and deliver from homes with traditional birth attendants.
"Children with Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida are on the rise and are produced by vulnerable mothers in our communities due to failure of giving birth in hospitals," Wangwa said.
Wangwa welcomed Mama Angelina Wapukhabulo's initiative of Laugh With Her Concert aimed at raising funds to support children with Hydrocephalus in Uganda and across Sub-Saharan countries.
"I urge all locals in Elgon, Uganda and Africa to participate in this concert in order to source funds to support these children. Your 10,000 shillings can save a child's life," Wangwa appealed.
CURE Children's Hospital in Mbale is the leading hospital in Africa handling neurosurgical cases for children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
