Emma Bwayo the LCV Chairperson Namisindwa District, has urged locals benefiting from the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds to invest the money in productive programs that will fight poverty.
Mr.Bwayo Made the call last Friday while Monitoring PDM activities in different parishes across Namisindwa District.
He said government brought PDM to help Ugandans in villages to move from subsistence to money economy, but some people are misusing the funds on alcohol, luxuries and marrying more wives.
"PDM money is not a gift for enjoyment. It is capital to lift you out of poverty. Use it to buy coffee seedlings, dairy cows, goats, pigs, poultry and to start small businesses. Do not drink PDM money," Bwayo warned.
Mr Bwayo also said that PDM is revolving Fund , the district team led by the PDM Focal person will continue with the monitoring and assessment, those found without any investment have to face the law for mismanagement of government programs or will be forced to pay back the money immediately.
He advised groups to work together, save together and support each other, saying unity is key to success of PDM.
Patrick Mukhooli resident of Buketela Ward Bukhaweka Town council one of the PDM Beneficiary who received the funds thanked government of Nrm party and promised to use the money wisely for productive enterprises.
