The Member of Parliament for Bubulo West County, Hon. Chris Matembu Wataka, has urged students to use their holidays to engage in productive programs that will improve their skills and keep them away from bad behaviors.
Hon.Matembu Made this remarks over the weekend at his residence in Nabukhuya, Manafwa district.
The legislator said many young people waste their holidays in trading centres playing Ludo, betting and drinking alcohol instead of learning new skills that can help them in future.
"Students, your holidays should not be for sleeping and moving around aimlessly. Engage in productive programs. Learn farming, tailoring, computer, mechanics, and help your parents at home. An idle mind is the devil's workshop," Matembu said.
He also called upon parents to take full responsibility in guiding and monitoring their children during and after school time.
"Parents, you have a big role. Know where your children are, who they move with, and what they do on phone. Some of you have left children to be guided by the internet. Talk to your children and show them the right way," he added.
Hon. Matembu promised to support youth groups in Bubulo West with startup programs and to lobby for more skilling centres for the Youths in the constituency.
