Bulambuli County Mp urges schools to follow Ebola prevention measures


Hon.Emmanuel Biara Wepukhulu the member of Parliament Bulambuli County has urged schools and tertiary institutions across Bulambuli district and entire country to strictly implement Ebola prevention measures as the new term makes the second week. 

‎Addressing this publication over the weekend,Hon.Biara Wepukhulu said that there have been false reports spreading widely on social media platforms and through word-of-mouth conversations in recent days on closure of Schools due to Ebola Outbreak causing concern among parents, learners, and school    administrators.

‎He adds that the Ministry of Education and Sports has officially dismissed claims circulating both online and offline that schools across Uganda.

‎However Hon.Biara called on heads of educational institutions, parents and local governments to familiarize themselves with the standard operating procedures and ensure they are widely disseminated.

‎He also assures the public that the ministry of health has announced a series of preventive measures following the detection of two imported cases, Although no community transmission has been recorded so far, the ministry said strict adherence to the guidelines is essential to prevent the spread of the disease.

‎Hon. Wepukhulu stressed that all schools are required to enforce mandatory handwashing for learners, staff and visitors upon entry and at regular intervals.Schools are also required to establish temperature screening points at entrances and restrict access for anyone showing symptoms associated with Ebola.

‎"The ministry calls on any learner, teacher or staff member presenting Ebola-like symptoms should be immediately isolated and reported to health authorities."He said 

‎He said that teachers have been advised to closely monitor learners for signs of illness, while students have been advised to promptly report any symptoms to teachers or school nurses.

‎Schools have also been advised to minimize non-essential gatherings and assemblies"Wepukhulu revealed."
