MBALE CITY: Leaders asked for effective monitoring of government programs

Denis Hamson Obua the Government chief whip have asked leaders in Eastern Uganda to monitor government programs for better service delivery.

Obua revealed this while speaking to the NRM mps, regional whips,local councils and other regional leaders during two days workshop to assess the role of whips in monitoring Government programs at wash and wills hotel in Mbale city.

He noted that leaders should stop lamenting over challenges affecting government programs but instead wakeup to overcome them through following government policy in implementation.

"We must monitor all programs and activities of Government, assist the NRM leadership through our lovely president Yoweri Kanguta Museveni as vision bearer in achieving these."Obua said.

Ranny Ismail the director in the office of Government chief whip highlighted that the objectives of having workshop for regional whips is for stakeholders to know what parliament has passed,how government programs are handled at the district levels among others.

She added that many issues have come out during the meeting for regional whips which includes short comes in Parish Development Model , Youthlivelihood program,social services and infrastructural development among others.

"We shall compile all queries from this Region , make follow up and it will be tabled in parliament to see the actuality of issues in accomplishment stages and those which have not been resolved, why there is a delay so that the coordination is effective and locals  gets better service delivery" Ismail said.

Wakooli Godfrey Matembu the member of parliament for Butiru constituency called on leaders to stop internal conflicts and focus on addressing problems affecting their areas.

He cited out that there is  information gap between districts and central government which has also impacted on service delivery.

Meanwhile, Irene Nafuna muloni the woman member of parliament for Bulambuli District emphasized that leaders and locals are working hard to ensure PDM funds reaches every parish for those 39% vulnerable beneficiaries.

"Am happy in Bulambuli we are doing well,most of parishes have been able to access PDM money"muloni said.
