KAMPALA : Parliament Contributes UGX 1 billion towards the Construction of Radiation Bunkers at Nsambya Hospital

The Parliament has contributed UGX 1 billion towards the construction of the radiation bunkers at the St. Francis Hospital, Nsambya Cancer Unit.

Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, made the revelation on today April 24, 2024, while presiding over the launch of the 13th Rotary Cancer Run, slated for April 25, 2024.

She said that the donation is aimed at complementing the government’s efforts towards de-congesting other institutions offering cancer treatment across the country.

Speaker Among appealed to the administrators of the hospital to create awareness of the facility and to subsidize the prices of the services offered by the cancer institute since it was built using funds raised through donations.

“What we require from you is to create awareness and sensitize people about the very beautiful facility that is there to treat people at subsidized prices,” speaker said.

The construction of the cancer radiotherapy bankers at Nsambya Hospital commenced in November 2021. UGX 13.8 billion is required towards the completion of the radiotherapy centre at St. Francis Hospital, Nsambya, Kampala.
