JUST IN :Father arrested for aggravated torture of his 9-year-old son in Mbale .

Police in Mbale Industrial City Division have arrested Kitunu Dan, a resident of Amber Store, and his second wife on ran for allegedly torturing and burning his 9-year-old son, Kakala Danstone Emma, a P3 pupil at Nabuyonga Primary School in Mbale City.

While speaking with this publication, Kalendah Sarah a probation officer in Mbale Industrial Division, condemned the act, stating that such incidents often lead children to end up on the streets due to abuse from stepmothers.

"I was alerted by the headteacher of Nabuyonga Primary School, who noticed bruises, severe burns, and strokes on the child's body," she said.

Kitunu Dan, the father of the victim, claimed he punished his son for being stubborn and a serial thief, I wanted to make him a good citizen, stealing from the house and neighbors and even stealing his own food they have kept for him. 

Kabuni Grace Irene, the head teacher of Nabuyonga Primary School said that she has been observing changes in this boy's behavior, including frequent tardiness and coming late to school. These observations led to the discovery of physical wounds on the boy.

Mr. Banja Hamza, the deputy Resident City Commissioner, expressed frustration over the torture inflicted by the boy's father and stepmother.

"We want the law to take its course against this man, and this warning goes to other parents: children are not animals to be tortured," Banja emphasized.

The issue of child torture often leads to children becoming street kids, as many attest to escaping abuse from their step-parents.
