Government of uganda cancels 48 land titles held by DFCU

 

In a letter addressed to the Managing Director DFCU bank Limited from the commissioner land Registration Magaino Baker ,states "that the purpose of this letter is to request that since the lease hold titles have been canceled thereby rending the 48  duplicate certificates of titles in your possession legally inconsequential the same should be returned to this office to avold any possible misuse "



Following a 24th October 2023 High Court ruling that dfcu Bank had illegally transferred to itself, 48 properties belonging to Meera Investments, the Commissioner, Lands Registration has cancelled the 48 titles and given dfcu Bank 7 days to return the now “legally inconsequential” duplicates. 

Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, one of the shareholders of the now-defunct Crane Bank, maintains that their bank was asset-stripped by the Central Bank, with intent to illegally take it over and sell it and was in cahoots with dfcu Bank, and has vowed to fight for justice till the end.
