Hon. Peace Khalayi, Woman Member of Parliament for Namisindwa District has donated over 50 mattresses and scholastic materials to Wekelekha Primary School in Namitsa Sub-county, Namisindwa District following the recent Fire Outbreak in the school.
The donation goes to pupils who lost their property during a fire that burnt down a dormitory about one week ago.
The unfortunate fire incident left pupils devastated after losing their properties, including mattresses, books, uniforms and other personal belongings. The incident came at a critical time when Primary Seven candidates are preparing to sit for their final Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
Hon. Khalayi said that the mattresses and other properties of students were burnt into ashes, more especially in the boarding section, where P.7 candidates lost everything in the fire.
She said the donation is to ensure that the children sleep comfortably as they focus on their final preparations.
Hon. Peace Khalayi urged students to be courageous and trust in the Almighty God, never to lose hope despite the setback.
Hon.Khalayi , wished all Primary Seven candidates success in the forthcoming examinations which are beginning on Monday morning.
She added that during examinations parents should support their children with prayers, guidance and provide all necessary requirements.
She called upon parents to avoid giving children too much domestic work during exam days so that they can concentrate and revise.
