Bulambuli District Woman MP, Honourable Sarah Wekomba Nambozo, has urged locals to form saving groups and improve on financial management in order to fight poverty in every household in Bulambuli District.
She revealed this while meeting hundreds of locals from all six sub-counties of Elgon North County at Kamu Town Council over the weekend.
Hon. Nambozo said poverty can only be fought if families embrace a saving culture and proper financial discipline.
"I urge you to form saving groups and improve on your financial management in order to fight poverty in every household in Bulambuli," Hon. Nambozo said.
The legislator revealed that she has lobbied and engaged a team from Housing Finance Bank, a government bank, to sensitize women and youth groups on financial literacy.
According to Hon.Nambozo , the team will train locals on how to form groups to get loans at lower interest rates and invest in agriculture to improve food production and household income in Bulambuli.
Hon.Wekomba Nambozo stressed that Housing Finance Bank is one of government banking institutions with cheap and quick farmers loans, bank also purchases agriculture inputs, machines at low price .
The legislator urged farmers to engage with the bank to improve their production.
Several Locals who attended the meeting thanked Honorable Sarah Wekomba Nambozo for lobbying for financial literacy training, saying it will help them manage their small incomes and boost agriculture.
