The old boys and girls of Kwapa Primary school in Kwapa town council Tororo district have donated one unit of computer and printer to their school.
The Catholic founded school is one of the primary school's that had registered outstanding academic performance in Primary Leaving Examinations where it's products merited to offer services in local, regional, national and international levels.
While presenting the items to the school administration on yesterday, the former pupils through their chairperson David Operon said the support is part of appreciation they are giving back to the school that nurtured them.
They said the donated items are intended at aiding to school to perform better in the national examinations.
Dan Leonard Adude another old boy said their donation is part of the response to the visit they paid to the school and found out that the school has never had a candidate scoring first grade for the last 10 years.
He said the items will help the set and print exams.
Adude said for the beginning, the association is going to train one of the staff on the operation of the items.
He said besides the donated items, they are also focusing to see that they pool resources to support the school management in constructing staff quarters in the school.
The school head teacher Joseph Emoyel that the former pupils for thinking about their school.
He revealed that the items will help the school reduce on the expenses it was incurring to buy typed examinations.
The head teacher said due to limited funding, the school has been limiting itself to buying only end of year exams but now with donated computer and printer, the will be able to set monthly and termly exams.
Meanwhile the school Chaplin Rev. Andrew Onyango applauded the old boys and girls for remembering their school.
He said by them just appearing to the school gives an inspirations to the current learners who may think school located in rural settings can't produce people of their caliber.
"We must say thank for your generosity and appeal to the final users to use it to improve on the academic performance in the school" he said.
Rev. Onyango said most of the learners are from poor background to an extent that their parents can not raise even 1000 shillings if the school asked them to contribute.
The priest challenged the learners to abstain from intimate relationships to allow them concentrate on studies to be able to join their colleagues to contribute back to the school in future.
"We are the first set of old pupils and we feel honored to contribute our efforts to make our school better in an appreciation for molding us into what we are today" he said.
