JUST IN!!!!! : Bunyole East MP, Mutembuli Facing another Arrest over Shs107M Debt

Bunyole East Legislator is facing another Case even if he is granted bail over his failure to pay election petition costs amounting to Shs107, 447,500 to his then 2005 opponent, Magwomu Moses Musamba.

The costs arose from Election Petition No: 43 OF 2006 filed by Mutembuli against Magwomu and the Electoral Commission. 

Yusuf Mutembuli who is currently battling Anti-Corruption charges at the High Court of the Anti-Corruption Court, Kololo has not paid costs awarded to Magwomu after he lost an election petition at the High Court of Mbale. 

The Warrant to arrest Mutembule on sight was issued by the Deputy Registrar Mbale High Court on the 7th May, 2024. 

The Warrant of Arrest is addressed to Ssemakula Abdu of T/A Rhodish Court Bailiffs and Auctioneers instructing him to produce Mutembule before the Mbale High Court unless he offsets the Shs107,447,500 owed to Magwomu.

“This serves to request every police officer of the Uganda Police Force to ensure that execution is done in an orderly manner,” reads in part the Arrest Warrant. 

Mutembuli, Busiki counterpart Paul Akamba, and Lwengo District Woman MP Cissy Dionizia Namujju were arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala on 12th June, 2024. 

The trio that appeared before Chief Magistrate, Joan Aciro was formally charged over an alleged budget corruption scandal involving Parliament and Finance Ministry.

Court records indicate they solicited a percentage share of the Uganda Human Rights Commission’s 2024/25 budget, promising to influence its increase.

Mutembuli and Namujju appeared before the same court for bail applications today, 17th June, 2024.
