Emma Bwayo Male youth councilor and LCV Aspirant come 2026 Namisindwa District has donated 1,000 reflector jackets to boda boda riders across 32 stages in the district over the weekend for easy visibility of the motorcyclists while operating on the road.
while speaking with various Boda Boda riders and the delivery of the items , Bwayo highlighted that Road rages are on the increase in Uganda following the Uganda police force weekly reports indicates that last month 77 people died and 39 sustained injuries on the roads .Among the dead were 22 motorcyclists ,23 Pedestrians ,13 Passengers on the motorcycles with the major causes of the crashes include careless over taking, over speeding and sudden Entrance from the road sides by the motorcyclists.
He added that most user hardly embrace this protective gears like reflectors which can enhance easy visibility while on the road.
Bwayo said that the donations came from different well-wishers with the aim of improving Road safety and compliance with traffic regulations for boda boda riders. However Bwayo encouraged motorcyclists to fully participate in government programs aimed at boosting their household incomes like Emyooga, Youthlivelihood and parish development model programs .
Shedrack Magomu, the Chairman for the Busulwa Boda Boda stage, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that Bwayo is the first to support them in the hilly areas and Boda Boda community.
George Walubengo, chairperson of the Munamba 1 Boda Boda stage, said traffic authorities have been sabotaging their works due to lack of a reflector jackets but the pressure is sorted.
Emma Bwayo who is a media practitioner with Elgon FM in Mbale city, is also an executive member of the European Union Youth Sounding Board and the Eastern Region speaker for the Youth Parliament. Additionally, he serves as a delegate at the East African Youth Parliament.
Bwayo who intends to contests on the race for the Namisindwa district LCV chairman seat which have attracted five contestants, including two councilors challenging the incumbent Mr. Jackson Wakweika,The other candidates include Khisa Joseph, Councilor for Bukhaweka Town Council; retired medic Mango Situma; primary teacher Patrick Wataka among others.
