Hon. Moses Magogo, President of the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), has called for grass-root support to revive the vision for Ugandan football.
He made these remarks during the FUFA Executive Countrywide Tour at the Tick Hotel in Kawempe Division Over the weekend .
“We have a vision for football in Uganda, but we can’t achieve it without the support of people running and managing football at the grassroots, like at the 4th and 5th Division league levels, all coaches and players,” Magogo said.
Magogo stated that the tour will provide an opportunity to hear people’s ideas and challenges for improving service delivery from FUFA to the grassroots.
He revealed ideas on how they can grant permission to the District Football Associations (DFAs) to organise mass football competitions and Mbuzi Tournaments to run concurrently with the 4th Division Leagues.
“We plan to have this project start next season, but strictly for the DFAs. We must use this space, or else it will be occupied by others,” Magogo said.
The Kawempe District Football Association welcomed the FUFA Executive Countrywide Tour, headed by Moses Magogo.
Juma Kasolo, Chairman of the Kawempe District Football Association, said that the representation for the tour is a true reflection of the clubs that have kept football alive in Kawempe.
“We are proud of our contribution to the game, and we are here to share with you, Mr. President, the challenges and ideas to develop football further,” Kasolo said.
FUFA is mandated to organise and manage the men’s and women’s national football teams, the top and second tiers of the national football league, the Uganda Premier League and the FUFA Big League, respectively.
