PARLIAMENT : PAC summons Lands ministry PS

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has summoned the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Lands, Ms Dorcus Okalany to explain unaccounted-for funds for financial year 2022/23.

This is after she skipped the committee’s first summons and instead sent an apology letter to the committee before traveling to New York.

The Committee chaired by Butambala County MP Muwanga kivumbi said that they wanted Okalanyi to explain the accountability of funds collected from the former houses to government.

The Committee resolved that she appears before the committee on March 27, 2024, without fail.

 Ministry of Lands, Housing & Urban Development is entitled to ensure sustainable land management, planned urban and rural development and decent housing for all.

Some of the activities done in financial year 2023/24 are as follow; 3 Public sensitizations on Land matters Undertaken in 3 subregions Acholi, Westnile, & Lango ensuring representation of all groups especially women and PWDs. Terms of 10 DLBs i.e Kapchorwa, Masaka, Rubirizi, Kaliro, Serere, Kyankwanzi, Lyantonde, Amuru, Mukono & Kakumiiro reviewed and approved,24,985 titles processed and issued to men and women, Draft land acquisition and resettlement policy has been prepared,25 trustees registered out of which 19 were new registrations and 6 were amendments, 12 land titles issued in wetlands and forest reserves cancelled, Commenced the closure of blue pages and 7 blue pages have been validated so far ,Arua town map revised ,27 topographic maps (9-Kole, 9-Luka and 9-Kiryandongo District) updated and disseminated, 40 KM National (inter district) boundaries i.e 23km along Moroto-Kotido districts and 12km along Rupa & Kakitekire subcounty, 5km Wakiso,
