Police in Elgon region has refuted allegations of their police officer involvement in the recent murder of mbale city businessman in Amudat disrict.
while addressing the media today at regional block Mbale city ,Rogers Taitika the Elgon region police spokesperson revealed that there is no any record reflecting on the police officer being involved in such a criminal case.
Taitika highlighted that there some misinformation circulating both on main stream media like new vision and social media over the arrest of one police officer from central police station Mbale city called okello,which is not true.
He assured the people of Bugisu and Uganda at large that there is no police officer involved in the murder of businessman .
According to police reports it indicates that incident happened last month where Umaru Binyota,34 year old businessman of Namusi-mbale city was killed with others like ,Umaru Watime a 40year old, resident of Nakaloke zone 3,Aramazani and Abasi in Amudat district .
Taitika urged media practioners most especially journalists to always be accurate while performing their work and give relevant information.
However He noted that last year police registered Eight murder cases in Bugisu region which were related to domestic violence, witchcraft among others.
He called upon locals to be always vigilant and report culprits who are suspected in such Acts in their respective communities for safety.
