JUST IN : UNRA Reports Saaka Bridge Reopened, Saving Mbale-Kampala Motorists 60Kms

Following meticulous reconstruction efforts spanning nearly two years, the Saaka Bridge, a crucial connection between Kaliro and Pallisa that succumbed to natural forces in 2020, has officially reopened for public use.

Residents in Kaliro and Pallisa districts, along with other road users, express their excitement as the Saaka Bridge opens to the public well in advance of its scheduled commissioning in February.

Eng. Paul Anguria from the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) proudly announces that the newly reconstructed bridge is designed to last an impressive 120 years.

Anguria states that the contractor has successfully met the deadline, with construction progress currently at 90 percent. The project is advancing to the final stages, involving the placement of the last layers of asphalt, installation of lighting systems, signage, and other finishing touches.

Highlighting the significance of the Saaka Bridge to the public, Eng. Paul Anguria emphasizes that it will significantly reduce transportation expenses and distances by 60 kilometers, providing a shorter route from Mbale-Tirinyi to Pallisa-Kaliro-Kampala.
