Eastern Region Growth Enterprises for Women Program Launched

Dominic Mafabi, the Minister for the Elderly has launched a new government program called Growth Enterprises for Women.

The Minister launched the new program on Thursday, 14th December, 2023 at Court View Hotel, Mbale City.

Growth enterprises for women is a new government program which is going to run for five years starting this financial year, 23/24, targeting women.

The Minister revealed that the program is going to be funded by the World Bank with a grant of 217 USD million and 40 million USD for refugees and refugees host districts.

Mafabi also says that they are targeting 35,000 micro and 4,000 small women enterprise groups in the entire Uganda.

The Minister says that the government wants gender balance whereby it wants women to be elevated from poverty.

Jackson Wakwaika, the LC5 chairperson of Namisindwa district applauded government for always coming up with such good programs.

He said that by 2030, people who will remain in poverty must not blame government because it has tried its best.
