Police recovers 10 cars in crackdown on theft rackets

Police flying squad unit has arrested Three suspects hardcore criminal gang member of car theft rackets in Luweero ,Nakasongola and Masaka district respectively recovered 10 stolen vehicles .

This follows a crackdown starting from Kampala Metropolitan, targeting motor vehicle thieves .

On Saturday evening  Flying squad detectives first arrested   one suspects to help in investigation and recovery .

Upon interrogation the suspects admitted being part of the rackets that steals and sells stolen motor-vehicles , later went ahead of   naming  his accomplices who were arrested  from  wobulenzi in Luweero district according to police .

Police preliminary findings indicated three suspects  been arrested and recovered 10 suspected  stolen motor vehicle from different districts .

The vehicles are currently parked at flying squad headquarters in kireka as investigations continue .

Hadijja Namutebi the police chief political commissar vowed operation  continue against car theft.   The police annual crime rate for 2022 shows a total of 1091 cases of car theft were reported to police compared   to 942 cases reported in 2021.
