MBALE CITY: Investors at Mbale industrial Park wants gov't to subsides taxes, extent tax holidays

Investors at Mbale industrial Park have asked government to subsides taxes and extent given tax holidays.

This was revealed by Zhang Laurent the Administrative manager at Mbale industrial Park yesterday Tuesday during the dialogue meeting held by three ministries, investors  and local leaders at the Industrial Park premises located at Doho , Industrial city in Mbale City.

This follows a section of workers at Mbale industrial Park through workers Union had petitioned to government in the ministry of Gender labour and social development claiming that their working conditions are harsh and there is lack of protective equipment ,low pay, Delay salary payment among others hence forced the three Ministers , Esther Anyakun Minister of State for Gender, Labour & Social Development (Labour, Employment & Industrial Relations), Evelyn Anite Kajik State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization and David Bahati Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Industry) who came to intervene into the petition.

Laurent refuted the allegations poor working conditions of the workers in the Industrial Park.

He added that all workers in the park are paid well and in time , everyone is given protective equipments during work.

In the same engagement he used that opportunity  request government to reduce on taxes imposed on investors and consider investors in terms of extending tax holidays such that they can also continue expanding production and increase employment opportunities among the youths.

He narrated that since previous calamities in the Park like floods and fire outbreaks which made them lose worth billions of money and properties , it's high time government value and rescue investors.

Esther Anyakun Minister of State for Gender, Labour & Social Development (Labour, Employment & Industrial Relations) urged park administration to consider workers rights which are in the constitution. Every Ugandan deserves his/her right while at the place.

Evelyn Anite Kajik State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization urged all investors in the country to report any government officer who intend to ask for a bribe .

She says that government has embarked on serious fight of corruption in the country adding that she is ready to deal with any officer found asking a bribe to investors.

Asumin Nasike the Mbale city acting resident city commissioner urged locals in Mbale city and Bugisu at large to support buy uganda build Uganda (BUBU) through purchasing the products of Industrial Park rather than using those smuggled from Kenya.

She says that people must consume products manufactured from the country as a way of boosting taxes and developing the country.

Meanwhile Mbale industrial Park has over 50 factories which produce different products with over 6,000 workers both skilled, unskilled and semi skilled.
