Update :Government, Church Collaborate to empower Parents during longest Holiday

In a joint effort to ensure the safety of learners during the extended third-term holiday, government officials and representatives from the church convened at Stoneridge School Sasa in Wakiso district.

The focus of the gathering was to remind parents of their crucial role in safeguarding children from potential abuses and dangers during the extended break.

You must continue with the work teachers have done to teach morals to children,” emphasized the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Monica Musenero, echoing the sentiment shared by clergy members at the event.

“Laws come in when there is a problem. But it’s the responsibility of you, the parent, to make sure your child is secured,” cautioned Dr. Patrick Wakida, the Researcher , Director of Stoneridge School, highlighting the proactive role parents must play.

The discussions at the parent’s prayer dinner covered various aspects of child safety, including protection against sexual abuse and monitoring children’s online engagement.

Meanwhile :

Linus Nasimiyu the city education officer Mbale city also has cautioned parents to be responsible of caring, provide  good food and skilling our  children as they head to long holiday of two months.

While speaking with V.O.M, Nasimiyu noted that according to school calendar of the ministry of education and sports ,most schools officially closed last Friday till next year and it’s an opportunity for parents ,guardians to entrust more time on supervision of their  children when at home .

She added that  every household has television so be supervisor of what your child watch because current technology have diverted nude information which might is dangerous our children.

However Madinah Nekesa the director Nkoma modern nursery and primary school  emphasized that parents have mandate of taking care of their children during this holiday times .

She said that parents should involve their children home works instead of making them idle which is deadly on their future.

Nekesa added that the  child protection laws are essential, the primary responsibility lies with parents to actively ensure the safety of their children.

As learners embark on the longest third-term holiday, the collaboration between the government, church, and parents reflects a collective effort to create a secure environment for children.

The proactive measures urged by officials and stakeholders  underscore the importance of parental involvement in shaping the values and safety of the younger generation during this extended break.
